Below are some common frequently asked questions, FAQs. If your questions aren’t addressed here please call or email us and we will get back to you quickly.
Want changes or additions made to your order?

Yes, after the initial menu meeting, we will do everything we can if you would like to make changes to your order. We appreciate and recommend you give us a 24 hour notice for small orders since all entrees, sauces, side items, etc are made from scratch for each order. For example, if you order 25 coleslaw side dishes, we make enough fresh coleslaw for 25 side dishes because we don’t use ‘leftovers’ for someone else’s order the next day.

If your event is a wedding or large event, we recommend contacting us as early as possible. Although we try our best to get back to you in a timely fashion, during the day of your event, we’re too busy to read texts and emails so be sure to call us if you need something.

What is Kentucky Proud?

Kentucky Proud is a movement that encourages eating and buying local produce. We are happy to tell you that we shop at the farmer’s market multiple times per week for our produce and source any produce that we don’t pick up fresh at the market from local farmers that specialize in niche crops. Our longstanding relationships with the growers ensure that we get the ‘cream fo the crop’ when we it comes to fresh produce. In addition to being locally sourced, all our food is made from scratch, to order.

Do you do tastings?

Yes, after your event is booked and the contract is signed, we do tastings for wedding couples.

Do you bake wedding cakes?

We do not bake wedding cakes in house, but we are happy to provide you with names of trusted bakeries and local cake specialists. Please note, we do not receive any ‘kickback’ from local vendors that we recommend. We recommend them solely on their merit and reputation.

Do you serve locally sourced food?

Yes, we shop at the farmers market and have longstanding relationships with our vendors to ensure the freshest, local ingredients. Every item that comes out of our kitchen is made from scratch and cooked to order.

How far in advance do I need to book my event?

The sooner the better is the answer for business lunches that are 24 – 36 in number. We are often booked a year out for weddings, so it’s important to contact us as soon as possible to nail down your date.

Is a deposit required for my event?

Yes, after the event is booked, when you sign the contract, a deposit is required.

Do you have a liquor license?

Yes, we do have a liquor license and all our servers and bartenders are STAR certified. This means that our team has taken a certification class with the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s Department of Alcohol that ensures they are properly trained for the safe handling and serving of alcohol to your guests.

Do you provide service-ware?

Yes, we can do as much with service-ware or as little as you desire. We can provide everything from upscale linens, flatware, china and glasses to disposable utensils and plates for al fresco dining. Disposable plates, cups, and napkins are $2.25 per person.

We can set the tables and linens for you if you desire. We also work with linen and rental companies that are competitively priced and reputable. We are pleased to handle the rentals of all china, crystal, linens, tables, and chairs…everything needed for the event! Note that a 10 % handling fee will be added.

Do you take on events outside of the Lexington, Kentucky area?

Absolutely. Just tell us where and when and we’ll start planning your event. Our catering vans are equipped for distance!

Can you do late night bites at the reception?

We love this option! It’s very en vogue right now. We’ve done everything from bourbon glazed meatballs paired with homemade potato chips or duck fat fries served with aoli in paper cones to tiny bite size grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato soup shooters. A slider bar is always popular, of course. These are a HIT at every reception. When the ‘late night bites’ are announced and brought out, there are usually cheers from the dance floor!

I don't have a wedding coordinator, how will you know when to start the courses?

Our catering team has lots of experience with timing receptions and events. They will follow your given timeline or use their observation and training to steer guests towards the buffet, fire another round of appetizers to pass, etc. This is YOUR big day and you and your family shouldn’t have to worry about making sure that the the chafing dishes are replaced with more food.

Will there be enough food for my guests?

We get asked this question a lot!

The answer is yes. Most definitely yes. We work with you during the planning stages to determine guest count and menus. Your final head count, of course, is important since all of our food is made from scratch, to order. If you are having a buffet, we always add extra in anticipation of some going through the line more than once. We have never run out of food at any of our events.

Do you provide kids meals?

We do! We can work with you on personalizing the kid’s boxes, but as an example, a typical box will have chicken fingers, applesauce, veggies and ranch and a cookie. They come in a clear box and are prepared ahead of time and can be set out on a designated kid’s table or at the assigned seat.

Parents love this option because it saves them the anguish of trying to get their child the ‘fancier’ food, they don’t have to balance two plates through the buffet line and if the dinner is a sit down function, their child can begin eating right away while others are waiting on the salad course.

Who cleans up after the reception?

This depends on the venue. We work with all the venues in town and are familiar with their rules and contracts. Of course, our service staff and bartenders will be responsible for set up, serving and cleanup of all food and bar areas.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all forms of major credit cards, check or cash.

Do you specialize in certain cuisines?

Our menu selection can accommodate anyone. Southern cooking to Middle Eastern. We have it all!

Can your team do passed appetizers?

Certainly! Many couples choose to do a traditional cocktail hour while they are taking formal pictures after the ceremony. We have many options that lend themselves well to being passed appetizers.

Do you cut the wedding cake?

Sure! We are happy to do this for you so your family members can relax during the reception.

How much does it cost per hour for the service team?

Bartenders, servers and wait staff are $125.00 per server for 5 hours of service set up, event and cleanup. Additional hours are charged at $20.00 per server per hour.

Do you have a minimum order for delivery for box lunches?
